Total Performance Systems is essentially a one-man show.  Patrick Morrissey has been a physical therapist since graduating from the University of Connecticut in 1992.  He's been involved in bicycle racing, triathlon, competitive running and coaching a variety of athletes since for more than 25 years.

Total Performance Systems provides both athletic coaching and physical therapy services.

Total Performance Systems Coaching

Principles of athletic training  success haven't really changed much in the last 75 years:  accentuate your natual strenghts and improve your weaknesses over time.  The problem is that we often fall prey to the trap of chasing each new and inventive training method, rather than selecting a plan that makes sense and sticking with it.

As a physical therapist, I also believe strongly in training in such a way as to preserve the health and strength of the complete musculoskeletal system.  Gradual increases in training volume and intensity, regular rest periods, and overall seasonal periodization are critical to maintaining and improving overall health.

Physical Therapy Services

For physical therapy to be most effective, it needs to occur between one therapist and one client at a time.  In today's very competitive traditional medical model, businesses are forced to require higher and higher productivities from their therapy teams.  The unofortunate outcome of this model is that therapists often only evaluate and occasionally assess their patients.  Most of the treatments are performed by assistants or aides.  Further, insurance costs are skyrocketing, with higher deductibles, higher co-payments, and fewer treatments allowed, the only real loser with the traditional model is the patient.

I charge a very reasonable fee for PT services, and do not accept any insurance payments at all.  If you have tried "fake and bake" therapies and are ready to make a real change for the better, please contact me.
